I replaced the Pentax screen with a Beattie screen with no lines grids or circles on it. It improved brightness considerably. I tried using a couple different Pentax focusing hoods but wasn't satisfied with them, so I took a fold down unit and took it apart and made a plate to fit inside it. The plate has a hole large enough to hold an 8X loupe, normally used for inspecting negatives and pictures. It provides a nice wide "field of view" for composing and enough magnification for good focusing. It's only drawback is that "off axis" it is pretty distorty, so focusing is done in the center of the field. The wire is for plugging into the control panel of the AP mount, so no battery worries
