The Rosette Nebula in the constellation Monoceros. In the center of this wreath like nebula is the star cluster NGC 2244. The Rosette is a rather faint nebula about 2600 light years away and about 55 light years in diameter. It is pretty hard to see with most amateur telescopes. This photo is a one hour exposure on Kodak PPF 400 film at f7.5, taken in cental Oregon during March of 2001
